Clerks became one of the biggest indie-film success stories of all time, introducing us to Jay and Silent Bob, propelling Smith to Hollywood acclaim, and winning a cultish following thanks to Smith's quick-witted, pop-culture-savvy style. Filmed in black and white, Clerks follows one day in the life of New Jersey convenience store clerk Dante Hicks (Brian O'Halloran), who's called in to work on his day off. He and his friend Randall (Jeff Anderson), a clerk at the neighboring video store, deal with Dante's love life, the hockey game it seems like he'll miss, and the usual stream of annoying customers with dialogue featuring one memorable line after another.
