Peter Sellers brought the unforgettable character of Inspector Clouseau to life for the first time in Blake Edward's 1964 classic The Pink Panther. The bumbling French detective would appear in a series of Pink Panther sequels and ranks as one of the most beloved characters in film history. This first of the series has Clouseau chasing Sir Charles Litton (David Niven), a dashing jewel thief known as The Phantom. He's out to steal a valuable jewel known as the Pink Panther. Thanks to his own wife (who's having an affair with Litton), Clouseau just can't catch up with the smooth criminal. When the Pink Panther is finally stolen during a costume ball, the crime is pinned on Clouseau, who has to wiggle his way out of trouble.
